The Fight Scene Rate System

I've complied a list of films with fight scenes. I've rated the fight scenes in the films on a scale from 0-5 stars. It's entirely subjective to my opinion, and I rate based on choreography, storytelling, performance and acting.

So now you know which movies to watch to get some good ole' action. Enjoy!

Naruto Shipudenn Dreamer's Fight (2012)

Rock Lee vs Naruto: 4/5

Great stuff. Tributes can be tricky but Thousand Pounds pulled it off. Lee's Drunken Style in live action could only be pulled off by a talent like Brendon Huor.

Marvel's Daredevil Episode 9 "Speak Of The Devil" (2015)

Murdock vs Ninja, Part 2: 3.5/5

Murdock vs Ninja, Part 3: 3/5

Ass kicking Montage: 2.5/5

Murdock vs Ninja, Parts 1 and 4: 3.5/5

Murdock vs Fisk: 2.5/5

A lot of good action in this episode. Murdock's battle with The Ninja, if looked at as one collective fight, is the best fight in the series thus far besides the long take. Adding ninjas to most things make them more badass.

We also get our first taste of Murdock vs Fisk. Just a taste, I'm sure there's more to come.

From Man to Man Vol. 2 (2013)

Brendon vs Vonzell: 4.75/5

One of the best fights of 2013, and one of the greatest fights I've ever seen. The fluidity and intricacy of the sequences are phenomenal. Love love love it.

Ninja II: Shadow of a Tear (2013)

Casey vs Thugs: 2.5/5

Dojo Fight: 3.25/5

Casey vs Thugs: 2.25/5

Casey vs Lucas: 3/5

Bar Fight: 3.75/5

Casey vs Drug Dealers: 3.25/5

Hotel Fight: 3.5/5

Casey vs Myat: 4/5

Casey vs Goro: 2.75/5

Casey vs Nakabara: 4.25/5

This movie is better than The Protector 2 but not as good as The Raid 2. Scott Adkins (Casey) is one of the best screen fighters in the world. This movie is a good demonstration of his abilities. As a movie it's a pretty straight forward action film, not a whole lot of depth.

The 2 major fights both deliver. One pits Adkins up against Tim Man (Myat), a very talented man only known by true martial arts film nerds. The other fight pits him against Kane Kosugi and it's the best fight in the film. Kosugi's movements are very crisp and smooth, he doesn't look like he's being choreographed at all. Although Adkins vs Tim Man is also great there were times during the fight where it felt choreographed. Also, all of Kosugi's movements had intention. And his fight acting was terrific.

Adkins also has to fight the elderly actor that plays Goro, which actually delivers exactly as it should. It's short, tells a story and gets to the point.

Solid fight film. Somewhat recommended.

TMNT Style: Epic Rival (Thousand Pounds, 2014)

Fight Scene: 3.75/5

Great stuff here. I'm not as big a fan of weapons fights, but the fighting was very good here. Not just the choreography, but the pacing and expression of each turtle's personality through just the fighting was terrific. Great music choice, too. Even the casting of all 4 turtles is on point. Only wish it were longer.
